Azul Board Games
Created by Michael Kiesling and released by Plan B Games, the Azul collection offers strategy games with beautiful abstract designs. Based on Portuguese decorative tiles called ‘Azulejos’, players decorate their game board with coloured tiles.
About Azul Games
In the original Azul game, points are awarded for pattern-building and completing sets, while wasted tiles will make you lose points. The player who scores the most points wins the game. Described as "an ideal weeknight game, or a game night opener, or a family title”, Azul is a firm favourite among many households. Not only this, but the game won the Spiel des Jahres award in 2018 which is awarded to family-style games specifically.
Following the success of the original game, there have since been great new variations created. These adaptations offer unique tile placements and scoring mechanisms, as well as specially designed tiles and boards. For example, the Azul: Stained Glass of Sintra game is designed as windows with clear coloured glass-like tiles.
