The battle for Middle-Earth has begun! The much-anticipated The Lord of the Rings: Living Card Game from Fantasy Flight Interactive is now available in Early Access on Steam.
Inspired by its beloved physical card-game cousin, The Lord of the Rings: Living Card Game marks the world’s first digital LCG as it allows players to form their own fellowship of heroes from J.R.R. Tolkien’s novels and embark on quests to defeat the forces of Sauron.
Just as in a physical Living Card Game, players start with a core set of cards that they can use to build decks to take on the game’s challenges, then can expand their options with fixed packs of new cards that are exactly the same for every player. There are no randomised boosters – you always know which cards you are getting, with purchases made using an in-game currency, Valor Points.
Once players have readied their weapons and assembled their heroes – calling upon the likes of Aragorn, Gimli, Arwen and Eowyn – they will take on the AI-controlled Sauron. As the dark lord deploys all manner of fiendish enemies and treacheries, the heroes must fight off the darkness while exploring mysterious locations and harnessing their willpower to complete quests.
During its period in Early Access, The Lord of the Rings: Living Card Game is available through three paid tiers of Founder’s Packs that include some additional exclusive content, though it will also become available on a free-to-play basis upon full release. Cooperative play, in which two players team up to work together against Sauron, will also be available at full release.
Head to Steam now to jump into the action as you create your own legends in the world of Middle-Earth!
