Days of Wonder have announced the upcoming release of Corinth, from renowned designer Sébastien Pauchon!
Under a blazing sun in the fourth century BCE, traders come to Corinth from all corners of the Mediterranean Sea to sell their goods; Persian carpets, Cretan olive oil, Roman grapes and Egyptian spices are all highly prized. Players will be out to secure their place in Corinthian lore as the city’s most savvy trader!
In each round of Corinth, a handful of dice are rolled, then players take turns selecting groups of dice of the same value and using them to deliver goods to the best shops in the harbour, purchase herds of goats to help erect buildings, or visit the market. They record their progress towards becoming the best trader on individual scoresheets.
Easy to learn in just three minutes, Corinth comes in a portable and compact format. Players will be challenged to make tactical choices as they must obtain the best offer for their goods while also making sure that their opponents are unable to do the same.
“Yspahan: the Dice Game… it has been quite some time since I got this funny title in my head,” said designer Pauchon, referring to one of his previous games, which was nominated for the Spiel des Jahres award in 2007. “So, even if the game is now called Corinth, I would like to thank the Days of Wonder team for believing in this project of mine.
“There is still a thorny question, though… what to do with a roll of nine identical dice?”
A standalone game, Corinth includes a harbour board, 150 game sheets, nine white dice, three yellow dice and a rules booklet. It is suitable for two-to-four players of ages 8+, with games lasting between 20 and 30 minutes.
The game is expected to be available in Europe in March, at a recommended retail price of £18.99.
