With the phenomenal rise of Pokémon GO taking interest in the franchise to stratospheric levels, businesses have been seeking ways to take advantage of it. Coffee shops and bars lucky enough to be on Pokéstops have seen increased footfall and sales… and they don’t even sell Pokémon product! Luckily you do, so we’ve put together this short guide to help you lure more customers into your shop! Catch them all!
First off, here are some keywords you’ll need to know if you want to take advantage of this craze:
an in-game location for players to receive items that represents a significant place of interest in the real world, such as statues or plaques.
an inexpensive, in-game item that can be purchased with real-world currency. These can be set up on Pokéstops to attract wild Pokémon to that location for 30 minutes.
Organised walks where Pokémon GO players set off together on an adventure to catch Pokémon.
these are locations where players battle their Pokémon and claim control of them for their chosen team. Perhaps your store is one?
So, what can your store do to take advantage of all the Pokémaniacs running around? Here are some suggestions:
If you’re close to a Pokéstop or are lucky enough to have one on your store, purchase and activate Lures to attract players to your location.
Make sure people know you sell the Pokémon TCG! This is the perfect opportunity for you to let everyone know that you sell the latest and greatest product from the Pokémon TCG range! Window posters & signs, window displays and easily viewed product when people set foot in your store are the easiest ways for you to achieve this.
Set up Pokéwalks of your area, starting and ending at your store. These can be organised via your social media channels and in store marketing. You could even offer a special discount to those who participated in your walk when they return to your store!
Offer your power sockets as charging points for local Pokéfans and make sure to let people know about this through external signs and in-store promotion. Why not have some games at hand that are easily demonstrated, so people can play them whilst they wait for their phones to re-charge? Dobble, Jungle Speed, Cortex Challenge, Timeline and of course the Pokémon TCG are all good choices!
