Non Fiction Editor, Aconyte Books
Contract -Full time/Permanent
Location: Nottingham, UK or remote
Aconyte Books is the dynamic and award-winning new publishing imprint that brings worlds to life. A part of international tabletop games group Asmodee, our mission is to create fiction and non-fiction set in the rich worlds of tabletop games, comics, computer games, and more.
We’re expanding our publishing program with the creation of a non-fiction strand – beautiful, authoritative books about the history of games, art collections and world books, strategy guides, and more. We are looking for a full-time editor with a good knowledge of tabletop games, and wider pop culture, to help us with this mission. If that’s you, get in touch –for the right person this will be a dream role that comes along only very rarely.
You will be working as a key member of the Aconyte Books team. Our offices are in Nottingham, UK, but remote working will be considered. You will work with the senior editor to plan the mix of titles in the range and help spec out book proposals. You will discover suitable expert freelance authors and ensure they produce great work. You will edit the book manuscripts and work with colleagues as they proceed through to printing. You will help champion the books to marketing colleagues within the team, and liaise with gaming partners and beyond.
The challenges in the role will be to understand what will appeal to readers, to find the right creative partners to write the books, and to guide them through the writing and development of texts, all to deadline and budget. It’s a new venture, so even with the support of the great Aconyte and wider Asmodee teams, there will be opportunities for breaking new ground and innovating.
For the right person this could be a fabulous opportunity to join a well-supported imprint as it grows and thrives, and really contribute to its success by combining skills and passions. Whether you’re based at our Nottingham offices or work remotely, this is also a rare opportunity to escape the drudgery and expense of a daily big city commute.
To apply for this position, please take the time to craft a cover letter which really explains what makes you who you are, what skills and experience you bring, and why this is the job for you. By all means attach a current CV as well. Please email this to firstname.lastname@example.org.
We look forward to hearing from you!
